Project Survival addresses an issue that San Francisco™s Tenderloin neighborhood, the home of the Warfield Building, faces on a daily basis: Survival. The design is stratified layers, starting at the ground floor with decay and moving up through trauma, growth, water, and finally light, the ultimate survival need. The installation uses projection, found materials, and LED lighting to make a rich and colorful sculptural installation that involves all seven stories of the building facade.
The Artists: They are undergraduate and graduate students at San Francisco Art Institute, studying with Carlos Villa, painting faculty member at SFAI since 1969.
